Large kitchen. Friendly staff. Large flat-screen TV.

A classic 1960s motel with some, but perhaps not enough, upgrades. Room heater/fan was very loud. No lights in bedroom functioned upon arrival; desk clerk had to adjust ceiling fan light, and the nightstand lamp would could be turned on and off only by plugging it in or unplugging it--an awkward procedure. There was a coffeemaker but no coffee or any other sort of breakfast amenity. Toilet, sink, and shower needed upgrading. Hot water was scaldingly hot, a potential hazard. Strength of water flow in shower could not be regulated. All in all, did not meet our expectations.

Good value, friendly staff, spacious room. Full kitchen is nice. Plenty of closet space. Quirky place, not a five-star luxury hotel, basic and comfortable.

A few things needed improvement. One lamp had a broken switch, another had a cord that didn't reach the plug until we moved the bed and stretched it. Towels rough. A previous guest had left coffee grounds in the coffee maker and the moldy mess was terrible. A window screen was torn.

This is not the Ritz Carlton, but a clean, safe & inexpensive place to stay if you need to be anywhere near Ventura. I was comfortable, it was quiet, and I'm glad I found the Viking Motel in Booked.net for my overnight stay. I slept well and was conveniently within 10 minutes of the Marina -- where I had to be the next morning at 7 A.M. My fellow travelers (who stayed at a competing motel for the same price) did not fair so well in their location. Loved the kitchenette, and the manager was considerate enough to give me the unit above his when I asked for a 2nd floor room. That made me feel more secure & relaxed, since I was travelling alone.

The box springs on the bed were a little noisy, but nothing I couldn't live with.

The staff is very friendly and the rooms are nice. Having the full kitchen is a plus. I also like the fact that they have flat screen tv'S. The beds are comfortable and have plenty of pillows which is nice. The only thing I could suggest is washing the towels in some fabric softner so they are not so rough and fresh paint. Very nice place I would stay there again

It was the only available motel at a price I could pay---but overpriced for an old rundown motel! However, it was clean and the beds were comfortable. It would work for a young family who wanted a beach vacation, since my room did have a kitchen. My understanding is that the room prices are doubled during weekends. Usually its the other way around--- does that mean prices are only higher weekends during the summer?

There is an alley behind the rooms that is littered with junk and weeds. Not a pretty sight as far as a view goes.

The manager at the Viking was very helpful and friendly, maid service was great, the room was excellent we really like the kitchen because it was just like being home in our own kitchen, we also had the opportunity to be upgraded to jacuzzi suite for a low cost.

Price, location.Clean inside equal to the price.low repair level.

Did not get up stairs room as requested, did not get a smoking room as requested. did get a room up grade for no charge. had to hear all day & night people stomping the floor above our room! thats why we requested a second floor room!the room was a kitchenet that had 2 dinner plates only, one small bowl, cook ware that I would never use because of wear and just looked unusable to the eye.Large refer, stove that where clean and usable.

Hot tub was great. Price was decent. Shower pressure was awesome. View was not great. Had old junk outside of windows. You can tell this is an older motel and rooms have been updated. Television, hot tub and kitchen facilities were great. If you just want to relax and get away and do not have to have a four star room, this place is great. Close to beach, close to the mall and a great price for $99.

The room smelled musty. Junk outside laying between motel and plant nursery next door. Tv remote didn't work well, but that was no big deal.

It really was a perfect place to stay for me. I stayed on the top floor and it was very quiet. The manager was very gracious and helpful. He went out of his way to let me switch my room to a full kitchen unit after I arrived. The kitchen was large and beautiful; new floors, all appliances that you would need, sit down table, nice curtains over a large bright, window, and even a large assortment of untensils, pans & dishes in case you forgot something. They even had a beautiful living plant in there, very thoughtful. It had a large king sized bed, very comfortable, and an even larger room with swivel chairs, two windows front and back, heat or air conditioning, and a beautiful large flat screen tv with a lot of channels to choose from. It was very clean and had no unpleasant odors. It also had a huge closet, and a very nice bathroom with a powerful shower that gave you a great massage. I know the prices fluctuate, but for me, it was unbelieveably fair. The street was unusually quiet, I couldn't really hear the cars unless you focus on them. It was only two or three miles from the harbor, and five minutes from downtown Ventura, or the mountains that you can see from the hotel. I look forward to staying there again.

I honestly cannot think of anything that I didn't like. I'd say the owners and the manager really care about helping people enjoy their stay.

It was a good size room for the price that included a full size kitchen.

The hotel room smelled a bit like pee. It didn't always smell, but it would flair up and start to smell from time to time. Also, even though we reserved a king, they gave away our room and told us they only had two queens available.

The coziness of the room and the practicality of its distance to downtown. We like the decor and the conviences the room came with

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the room. Perfect for a romantic weekend for young couple on a budget. Loved the jacuzzi, the room was clean, and the kitchen area was nice. Even though we didn't use it, I was super impressed that the room had a huge plasma tv, bigger than any tv I have ever seen in a hotel room for sure. The manager was very friendly. I would definitely go back. My boyfriend and I agreed that we would take the motel room with a jacuzzi over a three star hotel any day.
